Barbarossa
Barbarossa is a seafood restaurant on Limanaki, the old port of Naoussa on Paros, looking across to the chapel of Agios Nikolaos and the Venetian castle. It is lively and social, with a big wine list.
On Naoussa’s old port
The owner, Evgenios Hamilothoris, sets the tone. Travel.gr describes loud 1990s music, international celebrities at the next table and a spot right next door to Naoussa’s best-known nightclubs. The restaurant says its kitchen has served celebrities and members of royal families, yet keeps to the simple ingredients that Paros produces. Executive chef Thanasis Kakaras, a graduate of the Le Monde school who has cooked in kitchens across Greece and Europe, now leads the kitchen and combines traditional flavours with modern technique.
What to order
The menu centres on fish and seafood. It mixes traditional Paros recipes with dishes that have a more refined, modern touch, and the restaurant calls its cooking innovative Aegean cuisine. Ask which fish is in that day. Then turn to the wine list, which runs to around 150 labels, including some 20 champagnes.
Getting there from the yacht
Barbarossa is on Limanaki, the small old port of Naoussa, so it is a short walk from wherever you come ashore in town. If your yacht is moored in Naoussa, stroll round the harbour; if you are anchored in the bay, take the tender into port and walk from the landing.
Good to know
The kitchen is open every day from 2pm to 11pm. Reservations are required. Book online through the link on the website, by email, or by calling the reservations line during the day. Ask for a table on the water when you book.
