La Grotta Beach Bar

La Grotta is a bar built into the rocks above a small, deep cove at Paleokastritsa, on Corfu’s west coast. It has been open since 1968, and most people come to swim off the rocks and stay for a drink.

A bar in the rocks since 1968

The bar sits just above the water, with tables and platforms set into the cliff around the cove. Guests swim and snorkel straight from the rocks, then climb back to a table for something cold. Travel.gr lists it among Corfu’s best beach bars and describes it as more a cliffside bar than a conventional beach club. It fills up in high season, especially in the afternoon, when swimmers and sightseers arrive together.

What to order

Food is served from noon until 7pm: light bites and simple dishes made for sharing. Drinks run all day, from barista coffee and fresh fruit smoothies to ice cream, classic cocktails and the bar’s signature cocktails, made by its bartenders. From June to September there are live DJs three times a week.

Getting there from the yacht

The bar gives directions by land: drive, take a taxi or the local bus to Paleokastritsa, then walk down 142 steps from the road. There is no private parking, so leave a car on the main road. If your yacht is anchored off Paleokastritsa, ask your captain whether a tender landing is practical; if not, come by taxi from Corfu Town.

Good to know

La Grotta opens daily from 10am until around 1am, though hours change with the weather and the time of year. Tables for two to five people are walk-in only. Groups of six or more, and anyone who wants sunbeds, should send a request through the contact form on the website, up to seven days ahead; a booking counts only once the bar has replied. Bring swimwear, a towel and shoes that cope with steps and rocks.
