Arion

Arion is an all-day bar and restaurant in the heart of Skala, the port town of Patmos, a few steps from the harbour. It has been a Patmos landmark since 1966: come for breakfast off the boat, a cocktail in the evening or a late meal.

A harbour landmark since 1966

Arion has been part of life in Skala since 1966. It occupies a stone building from 1890 that was once a traditional shipyard and warehouse, now turned into a bar and dining room. Today it calls itself a Greek all-day bar and restaurant, mixing the history of the building with modern food and drink, from breakfast to cocktails and premium spirits late at night.

What to order

Mornings start with a full breakfast menu, from omelettes and eggs with tomato and feta to granola bowls and croissants. Later in the day the draw is what Arion says is the island’s only traditional wood-fired oven. It turns out pizza, fresh bread, baked spicy feta and slow-cooked meats such as spare ribs, beef short ribs, and lamb or goat. In the evening, order one of the signature cocktails, or choose from the premium spirits and the wine list.

Getting there from the yacht

Arion is in the centre of Skala, steps from the port, so from a berth in the harbour it is a short walk. If your yacht is anchored in another bay, take the tender or a taxi into Skala.

Good to know

Food is served from breakfast until midnight, so it is easy to drop in between a morning swim and a late dinner. Reservations can be made through the website or by phone, and there is a mobile number as well as the landline.
