La Fontelina
La Fontelina sits on the rocks at the foot of the Faraglioni, the three sea stacks that are Capri’s best-known view. Arriving by tender, swimming off the rocks and staying for a long seafood lunch is one of the great days of an Amalfi Coast charter.
On the rocks below the Faraglioni
The family business began in 1949 as a small trattoria on the rocks and is still run by the same family. Sunbeds and dining terraces are laid out at the water’s edge, facing the Faraglioni across a few metres of clear water.
It is a place for the whole afternoon: a swim, lunch, and a sunbed until the boats start back.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are booked with the beach club, and the restaurant can be booked on its own if you only want lunch. Through the afternoon, small boats shuttle guests back to Marina Piccola every half an hour or so.
What to order
The menu is led by the sea: local pezzogna (blackspot sea bream), spaghetti alle vongole, a frittura of small fish and seafood salads, with ravioli capresi for anyone who prefers not to eat fish. The house sangria, made with white wine and Capri peaches, is the drink everyone orders.
Getting there from the yacht
The easiest way is by sea. Yachts can anchor or pick up a mooring off the club and send guests in by tender; the club’s own boat team can help you land. On foot, it is a steep path down from the Belvedere di Tragara, about half an hour from the Piazzetta.
Good to know
La Fontelina opens from April to mid-October and serves lunch only. Book through its website, especially for July and August, and check the terms: in high summer, beach-club bookings carry a minimum spend. Boats may stop running in rough weather.
