Restaurant· Marina Grande, Capri

Da Paolino

Da Paolino is one of the most memorable dinners on Capri: tables set under a grove of around 130 lemon trees, a few minutes’ walk from the harbour at Marina Grande. For guests whose yacht is in port, it is the easiest evening ashore on the island.

A garden of lemon trees

It began in the 1960s, when Paolino and Michelina started serving guests in their own garden, and the De Martino family run it today. The tables sit under the lemon trees among majolica planters, and on a warm night the scent of the fruit hangs over the whole garden.

The cooking is traditional and generous, built on the produce of the island and the catch of the day.

In spring and autumn it also serves lunch, and on Sundays there is a lunchtime buffet of antipasti. In 2026 the family opened a second restaurant, Casa Paolino, near the Piazzetta, which is useful if the garden is fully booked.

What to order

Start with the bomba, a fried pizza filled with mozzarella, ham and tomato, or mozzarella grilled on a lemon leaf. Ravioli capresi and totani e patate, squid with potatoes, are the local classics. Leave room for the dessert room, laid with Neapolitan and Capri pastries, many of them made with lemon.

Getting there from the yacht

Da Paolino is in the Palazzo a Mare district, about a five-minute walk west of Marina Grande, where Capri’s yacht harbour and ferry port share the inlet. If your yacht is at anchor, the tender can land you in the harbour.

Good to know

It is seasonal, roughly from mid-April to early October, and serves dinner every night in season, with a bar for an aperitivo from early evening. Book well ahead through its website in summer. The dress is smart-casual: no flip-flops.
