Treasure Sands Club

Treasure Sands Club is a restaurant and bar set between Treasure Cay Road and the north-western end of Treasure Cay Beach, on the Abaco mainland across the water from Green Turtle Cay. It serves lunch and dinner in season, and much of its produce comes from the club’s own farm.

A beach club with its own farm

The club describes itself as the gateway to Treasure Cay, and its setting is the beach: a long run of white sand that, the club says, National Geographic placed among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. The kitchen works with Bahama Woodstar Farm, the club’s organic farm and herb garden, which is named after the Bahama woodstar, a hummingbird found only in the Bahamas.

What to order

Executive chef Tarik Russell’s menu blends European cooking with Bahamian flavours. At lunch, try the lobster roll, the grouper tacos or the beer-battered grouper sandwich, while conch fritters, lobster bisque and snapper ceviche appear at both lunch and dinner. At dinner, look for the pan-seared grouper with citrus beurre blanc or the lobster Thai red curry, and stone crab and lobster tail are offered in season. To drink, the house list includes the Abaco Parrot and an Island Mule made with sapodilla rum.

Getting there from the yacht

Treasure Cay Marina is being rebuilt, but moorings and a dinghy dock are available in the harbour, and the club is a few kilometres away by road. Taxis on Abaco listen on VHF channel 6. If the yacht is at Green Turtle Cay, the Green Turtle Cay ferry crosses to the Treasure Cay ferry dock, and a taxi can take you on from there.

Good to know

Lunch is served from 11am to 3pm and dinner from 5pm to 9pm. The club closes for part of the autumn, and its website gives the dates of its Thanksgiving opening and of the winter season, which starts shortly before Christmas. Book online, by email or by phone. A service charge is added to every bill, and payment is by card only. Its sister restaurant, Sunset Pizza, serves wood-fired pizza.
