Bridget’s Rum Bar & Restaurant

Bridget’s Rum Bar & Restaurant belongs to Hope Town Inn & Marina, a 15-acre estate on the western side of Hope Town Harbour, a five-minute walk from the Elbow Reef Lighthouse. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, and the bar looks straight over the harbour.

A rum bar on the quiet side of the harbour

The rum bar is a recent addition to the resort, which says it keeps one of the longest rum lists in the Bahamas. The inn sits across the water from the village and is surrounded by private property, so it feels more secluded than the busy village front.

What to order

Start with Bridget’s Punch, made with spiced rum, banana rum, orange and pineapple juice, or the Marina Punch, which adds amaretto to spiced rum and fruit juice. Frozen drinks, from piña coladas to rum runners and daiquiris, are served from late morning until early evening. The kitchen cooks a mix of local and American dishes, and there is a happy hour every day from 5pm to 6pm.

Getting there from the yacht

The marina has 50 surge-free slips for yachts up to 125 feet and moorings for boats up to 45 feet, with shore power, fresh water, showers, laundry and ice. Call the dockmaster on VHF channel 16 as you enter Hope Town Harbour and the dock team will help with the slip. If the yacht is lying elsewhere in the harbour, the resort will send its shuttle to collect you from any public dock, or you can bring the tender straight across.

Good to know

The restaurant is open every day from 8am to 9pm. Book a table by phone on the local number or the US line, and arrange the shuttle at the same time. Takeaway orders can be placed on the same numbers.
