Psarolimano
Psarolimano, Greek for “fishing harbour”, is a fish restaurant facing the small harbour in Larnaca’s Mackenzie area, where many of the town’s fishing boats are moored. The view over the boats is a large part of its appeal.
On the fishing harbour
The restaurant stands on Piale Pasha, right in front of the little harbour, with a panoramic view that the owners compare to the Greek islands. The dining room is air-conditioned for hot days, and everything on the menu is prepared in the restaurant’s own kitchen with fresh ingredients.
What to order
Begin with the raw-fish dishes, such as prawn ceviche and salmon tartare, or a bowl of fish soup, with dips like taramas and tyrokafteri. Then choose local fish: red mullet, picarel and bogue by the portion, sea bream or sea bass fillets, or a whole fish from the day’s catch.
Grilled octopus, fresh baby calamari, cuttlefish and fried gappari shrimps with tartare sauce are good for sharing, and the fish meze, priced per person, brings a long run of dishes. Lobster pasta and a risotto with mushrooms and prawns are on the menu too. Finish with walnut cake or baklava with ice cream.
Getting there from the yacht
Psarolimano is about 2.5 km south of Larnaca Marina along the seafront: around 30 minutes on foot past the fort and along Piale Pasha, or about five minutes by taxi.
Good to know
It is open every day from noon to 11pm. Book by phone, and ask for a table with a view of the harbour. Meat, vegetarian and children’s dishes are available for anyone who does not eat fish.
