Foša
Foša is a fish restaurant built into the wall of the small Foša harbour, at the edge of Zadar’s old town. Its terrace sits right above the water. The Michelin Guide first recommended it in 2019 and lists it again in 2026.
In the wall of the Foša harbour
The little harbour of Foša dates from the 16th century, and the restaurant occupies part of its stone wall. The interior, by architect Andrej Došen, sets old stone against a modern fit-out, and the terrace looks out over the water towards the Zadar channel. Chef Damir Tomljanović cooks Dalmatian dishes from local, seasonal produce with a lighter, modern touch, and Gault&Millau gave Foša 16 points out of 20 in 2026.
What to order
Fish is the point. Michelin’s inspectors single out the grilled turbot, and the menu includes sea bass grilled “na rašlje”, scampi risotto with black truffle, and Adriatic John Dory and scorpionfish. Gault&Millau recommends the “Damska buzara”, mussels in tomato sauce with polenta and a cheese foam, and a pistachio cake to finish.
Sushi is served from late afternoon, and the wine list runs to more than 120 Croatian labels.
Getting there from the yacht
Marina Zadar, across the harbour channel from the old town, is about 900 metres from Foša in a straight line. Allow 15 to 20 minutes on foot through the old town, or take a short taxi ride. D-Marin Borik, to the north-west, is about 2.5 kilometres away, so a taxi makes more sense from there.
Good to know
Online bookings for the same day close at 15:00. In July and August the restaurant asks for bookings 24 hours ahead, so reserve the day before. Michelin lists it as open daily for lunch and dinner, but hours change through the year, so check before you go.
