Azimut
Azimut is a bar and cultural club on Šibenik’s waterfront, right beside the Cathedral of St James. It occupies the old town wells, a set of stone cisterns built in 1453, and it stays open all year.
A bar in the old town wells
The cisterns once held around two million litres of water and kept medieval Šibenik alive; today they are dry. Azimut opened in them in 2013. Inside, the old stone is mixed with industrial and vintage design and graffiti by local artists. The club runs about 250 events a year, from concerts and exhibitions to literary evenings, stand-up and pub quizzes, and it added a gallery in 2019.
By day it is a quiet place for coffee and conversation; at night it turns into a music venue.
The Green Stage
Every summer since 2013 Azimut has run the Green Stage, an open-air stage on the lawns in front of the club, together with Kolektiv 4B. It has staged more than 650 summer events, including the SHIP festival and the Šibenik Dance Festival, and the tourist board says entry is free. The events page on the website has the current programme.
Getting there from the yacht
If your yacht lies on Šibenik’s town waterfront, the club is a few steps away. From D-Marin Mandalina, about 2 kilometres south-east of the old town, allow 25 to 30 minutes on foot along the shore, or take a short taxi ride.
Good to know
Azimut is a relaxed bar rather than a cocktail lounge. It publishes no phone number, drinks list or fixed hours, so use the email address or the website for questions. Pelegrini, Šibenik’s Michelin-starred restaurant, has its summer terrace on the square just above, which makes Azimut an easy stop for a drink before or after dinner.
