“L’OCTANT, a rare NEEL 51, delivers race‑bred speed, exceptional stability and expansive private living spaces — a fast‑cruising luxury trimaran designed to turn every charter into an unforgettable, high‑performance escape weather in the Med, Caribbean or during Transatlantic Crossing passages.”

SuperSailYachts Magazine
The S/Y L'OCTANT is a very rare NEEL 51 charter trimaran offered for sailing holidays in both the West Med, around Corsica and Sardinia mostly, as well as in East Caribbean, around Windward or Leeward Islands. She was launched i 2018 and refitted in 2022. NEEL 51's are built on a simple truth understood deeply by founder Eric Bruneel: sailing should feel fluid, fast and effortless, without compromising the quality of life on board. S/Y L’OCTANT embodies this philosophy with absolute clarity.
Designed for fast cruising, the NEEL 51 consistently delivers:
• Average cruising speeds of 10 knots, enabling over 200 nautical miles per day
• 15–18 knots when the breeze freshens
• A hull and rig configuration that is 1.5 to 2× faster than conventional cruising yachts
This is the direct result of NEEL’s racing heritage and meticulous weight centred engineering.
A Trimaran Engineered for Real Performance
1. Weight centred architecture
All major masses are concentrated around the centre of gravity, dramatically reducing pitching and creating a smoother, more stable ride — a key advantage in Mediterranean chop.
2. Rockered central hull
The centre hull features a subtle rocker, allowing L’OCTANT to tack with surprising agility for a yacht of her size. Manoeuvres feel crisp, controlled and responsive.
3. Stretched, fine entry floats
The amas are long and slender with thin bows that slice cleanly through the sea, enhancing directional stability and reducing drag. This is why NEELs maintain high averages even in variable conditions.
4. Racing derived rigging
The rig is directly inspired by offshore racing trimarans, with a generous sail plan of 17 m² per tonne — a power to weight ratio that gives L’OCTANT her signature acceleration and light air performance.
5. Efficient motoring
The trimaran configuration also excels under power.
The low prismatic coefficient of the central hull means exceptionally low drag, while the side floats barely touch the water. The result:
• Higher sustained speeds
• Lower fuel consumption
• A smoother ride in swell
L’OCTANT — Authentic, Capable, and True to Her Purpose
For her rally participation, L’OCTANT sails with her original sails and standard rig, exactly as a family would take her across the Atlantic. No optimisation, no stripped out racing tweaks — just the pure, capable NEEL 51 platform performing as it was designed to.
This reinforces her credibility as:
• A genuine blue water multihull
• A yacht that performs beautifully without modification
• A platform that blends speed, stability and simplicity
• A trimaran that delivers real sailing pleasure to charter guests
How This Elevates the Charter Experience
For you, THE clients, this translates into:
• Faster passages between anchorages without major fuel costs
• More time swimming, exploring and relaxing
• A smoother, more stable ride
• A yacht that feels alive under sail
• Confidence in offshore capability
• A premium experience rooted in real naval architecture, not marketing fluff
ACCOMMODATION & CREW
L'OCTANT has 4 cabins, including a master suite and 3x doubles which means she can accommodate up to 8 guests.
However, due to crew requirements, during a crewed yacht charter, one cabin is allocated to crew allowing maximum of 6 adult guests on board.
