When chartering a luxury mega yacht, charter guests will quite likely consider the destination in which they wish to cruise as the major part of their next super yacht holiday experience very carefully.
A typical super yacht charter client may already have in mind what type of a yacht will be of interest to them and their party, and are ready to see the options available. The party is also likely to be looking at specific dates with little flexibility around those. Number of cabins and certain facilities will be demanded but a compromise is probably going to be needed somewhere. Where there is likely to be no major compromise is in terms of the meeting point and end of charter location. The choice of embarkation and crucially disembarkation port is therefore likely to be on top of the list. In those circumstances, considering ONE WAY charter is likely to be the a reasonable alternative.
Best or most popular charters:
Starting out in St Tropez’s old port and disembarking in Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda coast of the North East Sardinia is one such option. Many clients also prefer to be flying into Tivat in Montenegro to board their super luxury sailing catamaran, then disembarking in Dubrovnik, the jewel of Croatia, or even Venice on the Northern Adriatic coast. This is at the same time also one of the best and most cost effective ways to enjoy both your yacht, as well as the fabulous itinerary. There are of course many other one way charter options, starting out in Miami and ending the charter on Neckar Island to have a private meeting with Mr Branson. Or picking up the boat in Grenada and sailing all the way to St Barth’s for some luxury shopping lifestyle trip par excellence.
Most effective way of chartering:
Whatever the route and itinerary, it is important to know that ONE WAY charter is not only possible, but it is also likely to be more cost effective in many occasions. Almost all luxury mega yachts will be very happy to offer ONE WAY charters. In case the distances involved are reasonable or manageable and there are no known or major legal limitations, all captains and owners will approve such a type of cruise with both hands. And as the cost of one way fee is usually smaller than the cost of returning to the home port on time, it is likely that you as a yacht charter client will also be persuaded to embark on a one way cruise anyway. The highest number of mega yacht charters in South of France starts indeed in VAR, just outside of Nice international airport, allowing clients to board their yacht almost immediately after landing. Similar arrangements can also be made elsewhere, with boats mooring up near the BVI’s international airport on Tortola and the cruise ending in a totally different location. In most cases, embark in St Laurent du Var or near Tortola's international airport, there would be no additional ONE WAY or indeed delivery fees. In some cases, in Italy in particular, if you sail away from the coastline the rate of local VAT/IVA is also reduced by 50% on some yachts.
Captains advice or Special Deals:
On many occasions, the super yacht captains will advertise special deals on ONE WAY mega yacht charters. This may be because the owner will want to use the boat in a location far away from the yachts’ usual home port, or because his entourage will be forced to cut their holiday short while the boat needs to return back to its home port anyway. These special occasions usually offer great value for money super yacht charter getaways and you should be aware of their existence.
Thus, regardless what is your next luxury crewed sailing vacation, before you decide, consider ONE WAY mega yacht charter offers first.
