The first Palma Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show
The first Palma Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show held from 1-5th May 2013 firmly consolidated Mallorca’s status as a prime location for super yacht charters.
The show, run by The Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA), which used to be part of a refocused Palma Yacht Show, proved a success with lots of boats and clients being present.
The show attracted in particular sailing yachts such as 40m Philanderer and high spec Valquest 41m, as shown on the photos below. Apart from dozens of super sailing yachts, a similar number of motor yachts were also present, including the largest 62m motoryacht, Rasselas.
Amongst motor yachts the most interesting model on display was Pershing 90 ‘’Tiger Lilly’’ (photo below) which is one of the largest super yachts available for luxury yacht charter in the Balearics.
The show also attracted exhibitors of supporting services, enabling the visitors to see a small selection of tenders, a great selection of new water toys and a small attraction with two classic super cars.
The local association, which was named BYBA, was formed by six international brokerage houses earlier this year after staging their first show at Mallorca Superyacht Days in 2012. The whole project is extensively supported by the local Balearics government too, so there is a big hope that with the time, local taxes for super yachts will be reduced. This should in turn attract more owners to base their super yachts here, creating a more buoyant luxury yacht charter market in the Balearics.
